Dr. Kiran Jones (aka Dr. Kiran) was born and raised in Fredericton NB Canada of parents from India, graduated with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) from University of New Brunswick before heading to Boston to receive her Doctor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry.
She practiced in San Antonio for several years before moving to Maine in 2004 to return closer to her family with her kids. She scouted the land for the location of the practice in Newport, designed the building and interior and the rest as they say “is history”.

Her vision for Newport Eye Care is to structure the practice around providing exceptional customer care and patient education.

She truly believes that preventative care is the key to healthy eyes and assists in the diagnosing and managing of many systemic conditions. And strongly believes in an integrative approach to eyecare. Incorporating knowledge of the role stress and mental health issues plays in the visual system and the brain.

Dr. Kiran Jones is board certified in the diagnosis and management of eye diseases such as:
Macular Degeneration
Dry Eye
Therefore, Dr. Kiran invests heavily in the latest technology and training of herself and her wonderful staff to distinguish her practices from all others. Her patients are “wowed” by the modern eye examinations and thorough treatments she provides. The quality experience doesn’t stop there, it continues into the products she recommends; the highest quality eyewear made with the best materials, contact lenses to fit every patients need, and ophthalmic lenses that provide you with the clearest vision possible.

In 2019, Dr. Kiran completed a course with Northeastern State College of Optometry in Laser Therapy for the Anterior Segment and Advanced Surgical Procedures for the Optometric Physician, in hopes that the state of Maine will expand the scope of Optometry to allow these procedures to be performed on her patients.

Dr. Kiran is certified to the highest level by the State of Maine and the National Board of Examiners. She is a 25+ year distinguished member of the American Optometric Association as well the Maine Optometric Association.
Besides her two beautiful sons, Dr. Kiran has 4 dogs and enjoys her time fostering dogs for rescue groups as well as for tutoring for Maine Literacy Volunteers.
Fun Trivia : growing up, Dr. Kiran was a National Level athlete in both Tennis and Badminton as well as holding a Level 2 Coaching Certification. While living and competing in Texas, she was a USTA 4.5 player.



Dr. Ian Jones graduated from the University of New Brunswick with a bachelor of science degree and went on to receive a Doctor of Optometry at the New England College of Optometry. He completed a residency at both the Brockton and West Roxbury Veterans Hospital in Massachusetts specializing in ocular disease. Dr. Jones specializes in diagnosing and management of eye diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye and cataracts. Dr. Ian Jones is an associate professor at the University of Houston Optometry School in Texas.

He is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Maine Optometric Association.
